I have been married for 47 years to my wonderful husband, Steve.  We  have 2 beautiful and successful  daughters  and 4 fantastic grandchildren ages 20, 18, 17 and 17 months old.  I am retired from Mortimer Jordan but presently have the job of my dreams; keeping my youngest grandchild .  The pay is lousy but the benefits are awesome!

Since graduating from John Carroll I have come to realize two things, being a JC graduate opened many doors as far as job opportunities were concerned and I was way to serious in school.

Wow, has it really been 50 years? What could possibly have changed? Well, let's see: we got married in 1969, and were an Air Force family for 30 years. During that time, I finished my BA in English at the University of Alabama, figured it was sort of worthless in the job market as it was a straight liberal arts degree, so I got a BA in Architecture from the University of New Mexico (slightly more marketable). We've lived in Mississippi, Maryland, California, New Mexico, England, Texas, and are now in Colorado. During that time (until the Colorado part anyway) we raised three children, two of whom are now married with their own children, and none of whom lives anywhere near us. Clearly I missed something somwhere along the way.

After graduation, I attended Auburn University,where I met my husband and the love of my life , R.J. Boyd Jr.  We were married for 30 years and had 4 children. We lived Nashville, Birmingham and Atlanta. Sadly in 2001, after a long illness, R.J. passed away. Our children have blessed me with 11 gradchildren (9 of the 11 are pictured here) who bring me great joy. I recently retired from the early childhood education field and reside in Atlanta.

After graduating from John Carroll I attended  Auburn University where I received my  degree in Physical Education. Terrry and I have been married for 47 years and we have 2 children and 5 grandchildren .  We moved to Orlando, Florida in 1985 with Terry's job and have been here ever since. I taught here and in Birmingham for 40 years and have been retired for 5.  Terry retired over 2 years ago and we have stayed busy enjoying our grandchildren and traveling as much as possible.

After 1967 Graduation I served in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Castle AFB, California. I have  have been active in Crane & Rigging Safety over the last 42 years and 2016 was award the Life Time Achievement Award in Occupational Safety & Health at the Alabama Governor's Safety & Health Conference. 

October 7, 2016, 50 years after wearing the JC football uniform I was on the sidelines for the renaming of JC Field to Pat Sullivan Field. Great honor for Pat and amazing to be on the sidelines again with so many team mates (1966 football team).

My life has been blessed with my family, friends, career and strong faith in God.  50 years, where has all the years gone?  Looking forward to our 50th Class Reunion and be able to share with so many people who gave me many wonderful High School memories and tell all of you thank you for being an important part of my life..  See you in August, 2017.

After graduating from John Carroll, I attended  UAB where I received my degree in Physical Education / Special Education. Ed and I have been married for 40 years.   We moved to Panama City, Florida in 1990 after Ed retired from the USAF.  I  have taught special education in a number of states and in Europe for the Department of Defense  School System.  In 2014, after  41 years  in special education,  it was time for me to retire. 

Since my retirement, I have enjoyed traveling, camping and riding my motorcycle.  Ed and I love the open road, the wind in our face, the beauty of nature and meeting new people along the way.  Looking forward to seeing everyone in August.  God bless.

Since graduation, I have been an academic and professional nomad of sorts.  BA from Loyola New Orleans, then a stint with the Jesuits in Rome, then university administrator back in New Orleans.  Then to Tuscaloosa for my MA and Ed.D. in university administration.  Served as Assistant Dean of the Graduate School and then did research and consulting at Alabama.  Then it was on to New York for the next 25 years, working as Director of Consumer Affairs for the NYC Transit System and then doing major project design and management for the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation.
On a beautiful summer afternoon on the beach of Fire Island in 1984, another life changer.  I met my partner, Walter Adams, and we just recently celebrated our 33rd anniversary.  He has been my partner, caregiver (when I'm sick), my travel companion throughout all of the lower 48 and throughout Europe, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand or just being lazy on a trans Atlantic crossing on the Queen Mary.
Then a life changer in 1990 when lyme disease progressed to meningitis and then to full-blown AIDS.  "Retired" in 1992 and became involved in AIDS projects, the New York Gay Games and, newly ordained in an interfaith healing ministry, began caregiving and death coaching, unfortunately burying 250 of my best friends.  The work was powerful.  Around this time, I also reconnected with my Native American side, doing monthly ceremonies and organizing intertribal ceremonies in New York and around the country.  Part of that call was to journey to the Peruvian Amazon to do healing work with shamans and then spend another couple of weeks in Manchu Picchu.  A vision quest of sorts.  My work continued in New York until 2006 when we moved to Asheville, NC. The move from Manhattan to living on the side of a heavily wooded mountain was actually a simple move.  My "skyline" is our mountain range.  People are generous to a fault and eminently more tolerant than outsiders give them credit for.  Here, I began working with an annual AIDS Retreat for the southeastern Province IV of the Episcopal Church.  Shortly thereafter, I joined the Episcopal Church and became certified as a hospital chaplain.  Between my love of the work and my own medical journey, it has been rich.  My parish is the Cathedral of All Souls here in Asheville and it is one of the most active, culturally rich, outreaching, not-afraid-to-take-a-chance communities that I have ever seen or been part of.  They encourage involvement by the laity not only in projects but also the governance of the Church, including the election of bishops.  More than once, the House of Laity outvoted the House of Clergy in a bishop selection.  We are also part of shaping policy regarding faith and morals and help define the mission of the church.  Truly an expression of what the early nuclear Church was about.  It's just now that we are remembering who we are and what our mission is.
So, life has been a series of careers, locations, relationships, pilgrimages and social involvement. I have also been writing journal articles for AIDS journals, the national chaplains publication and also a few published short stories and interviews.
Sorry I can't be there but at present I am recuperating from some serious arm and wrist surgery.
I have amazing memories of John Carroll.  And while we produced a Heisman Trophy winner, a Nobel laureate and many high ranking military and public officials, we also created a community of hard working individuals who raised families, contributed to their community and cared for one another.  A person can't ask for much more than that.
