Helen Mary Italiano (Adams)

Obituary:
Helen Adams Italiano, age 68, died at home surrounded by loved ones on January 25, 2018 after battling cancer for many months. Visitation will be on January 30 from 9:00 to 10:00 am followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Hoover.
Helen is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary Catherine Italiano; sisters, Emily Ann (Wayne), Sharon (Henry), Catherine (Alan); brothers, Robert (Janice), Joe (Teresa); many nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen Adams; nephew, Jason Hicks; grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Helen was a social worker for 36 years. She received the honor of being named Social Worker of the Year. She retired from the VA Medical.Center in Birmingham in 2017. Helen loved her family dearly, especially Mary Catherine.
She will be missed by many family members and friends. The family would like to thank her doctors, nurses, and health care workers at UAB, hospice nurses, and home health care workers for providing excellent, compassionate care. Anne Alfano

Obituary:
Anne Elizabeth Alfano was born Dec 21, 1949 to Marie and Sam Alfano in Birmingham, AL.
She was a resident of Hoover and passed away December 21, 2020 at Grandview Medical Center.
She was a graduate of John Carroll High School and the University of Montevallo.
Anne completed her Master's Degree and Advanced Certification at the University of Alabama Birmingham.
Anne taught elementary school for 40 plus years, mostly with the Jefferson County School System.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents Sam and Marie Alfano and brother Charles Alfano.
She is survived by her Uncle Jim Alfano and Aunt Pat Rogato and many cousins and friends.
A private Graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Saturday January 2, 2021.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to be made to any no kill animal shelter or UNICEF.

Gaeton Conte

Gaeton Conte became a Knight of Columbus on February 7, 2002 and his impact on St. Patrick and the Council has been dramatic. Gaeton, along with his brother Joseph, is a fixture at all Knights events, programs and service projects. They were named Family of the Year in 2004 and Gaeton was named Jerome C. Bradley Knight of the Year in 2006.

Gaeton has served the Council as Chancellor and Deputy Grand Knight and his term as Program Director produced a Church Activity Award from the Alabama State Council. He is a staunch proponent of Pro-Life activities and regularly attends the monthly Pro-Life, Mass, Rosary and March in downtown Birmingham. Gaeton has also served as Ticket Chairman during Springfest.

Gaeton Vincent Conte of Birmingham passed away on Sunday March 15, 2020 at the age of 70. He was born November 24th 1949. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. Vincent A. and Teresa Conte. He is survived by his brother Joseph Conte plus a host of cousins. He was a long time devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Adamsville. He worked for many years manufacturing office chairs. On his retirement he volunteered at St. Patrick, The Catholic Center of Concern and many other areas of the Diocese. Gaeton was a member of the Knights of Columbus, The Society of St. Vincent DePaul, the St. John Vianney Vocation Society (formerly Serra Club). Gaeton attended John Carroll High School then the University of Alabama graduating with a degree in Engineering. Due to the Corona Virus there will be a Private Graveside service on Friday March 20, 2020. There will be a Memorial Mass at a later date. James Michael (Mickey) Crouch

James Michael Crouch, 70 of Birmingham, Alabama passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 peacefully following a courageous fight with complications associated with Alzheimer's at UAB West Hospital with his family by his side. Born on September 27, 1949 in Birmingham, AL, he was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary Lou Crouch; sister Mary Ann Taylor, and brother Jude C. Crouch. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Elizabeth Adams Crouch; two children; son, Gabriel Michael Crouch, his fianc Neleigh Wilshusen; daughter Kimberly Elizabeth Crouch; three grandchildren, Ilysia Conti, Silas Conti, Noelle Hunt; sister Claudette Gentle; sister-in-laws, Glenda Smith (Lynn), Mimi Adams, Melissa Foster (Rick); brother- in-laws, Mike Adams (Rhonda), Ed Adams (Angela) and a host of nieces and nephews. After graduating from John Carroll High, he went on to complete his undergraduate degree in business (accounting) and Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE). He practiced law for 40 years in Birmingham. Mickey was a devoted husband, father, and Grandfather. He coached many sports for his children; soccer, volleyball, basketball, loved to play tennis with Gabriel, horseback ride with Kimberly, and be silly with the grandchildren. He was on the building committee for Our Lady Catholic Church, taught CCD confirmation classes for 8th grade, OLV PTO, Country Fair at OLV, and was one of the original founders of Lawyers for Life in Birmingham. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of UAB West, especially the "Dream Team" in ICU, for all their kindness and care. Visitation will be Sunday, October 20th, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary Service at 7:30 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be Monday, October 21st, 2019 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Of The Valley Catholic Church with burial in Southern Heritage Cemetery.

Mary Ann Culotta

Mary Ann Culotta passed away April 16 from a short term illness. She is preceded in death by her parents Sam A and Frances (Rosato) Culotta and brother, Sam A. Culotta. She is survived in life by her beloved, J. David Philpot, four siblings, Charles (Paula) Culotta, Teresa (Anthony) Marino, Vincent (Theresa) Culotta, sister-in-law Lori (Sam) Culotta and Reverend Joseph G. Culotta. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Tracie (Rod) Armbrester, Lisa (Wayne) Johnsey, Anthony (Maria) Marino, John Culotta, Christy Howle, Stephen (Kelly) Marino, Jennifer (Mark) Drenzek , Sarah (Ryan) Smith , Stacey (Lance) Higgins, Lauren Culotta, Michael Culotta and great nieces and nephews Grace, Anthony, Kate, Zoey, Samantha, Austin, Caroline, Peyton, Isabella, Scarlett, Megan, Bailey, Isla, Finn and Bella. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church where she also taught PSR 2nd grade classes weekly during the school year. She was a devoted Adorer at the Chapel of Divine Mercy and cooked for The First Shelter ministries. Mary Ann's life work was bringing a sustainable arts program to children. She was an artist, art educator, and advocate for quality arts programs for schoolchildren in the greater Birmingham area. She served 34 years at the Jefferson County Board of Education as an art teacher, art supervisor and Director of the Arts Education Department. Throughout her career, she also taught classes at Samford University in Art and Art Education. She retired from Samford in 2016 with her own art exhibition titled "Past to Present." Partnering with many arts agencies in the city, she served on several Arts & Education boards throughout her life, including the Virginia Samford Theater, Space One Eleven Art Gallery and Joseph Bruno Montessori School. She was a world traveler and believed travel opens one to other religions and cultures bringing the world much closer in life's theme of struggle and success. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of the Arts/Education Boards mentioned above or MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1728 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama35209on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 11:00am with visitation at 10:00am. A private columbarium service will be be held at a later date for the family.

Mike Cusimano

Mike Cusimano, 68, died on January 3, 2018, at his home in Birmingham, Alabama surrounded by family.
A visitation will be held Saturday January 6, 2018, from 9am-11 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 11 am with burial to follow at Valhalla Cemetery.
Mr. Cusimano graduated from John Carroll Catholic High school in 1967. He was the owner of CMC Corporation in Tarrant, Alabama and worked there for 48 years. He was also an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Mr. Cusimano is survived by his wife, Deborah Cusimano, five children, Robert Cusimano, Connie Cusimano, Nicole Thacker (Tim), Olivia Evans, Hollis Evans and Harrison Hatch. He is also survived by two sisters, Christine Hill (Rick} and Susan Norman (John), niece Katherine Norman, three nephews, Derick Hill (Tara), Andrew Hill and Elliot Norman (Jessica) and one great nephew 1 Jacob Hill.
Mr. Cusimano is preceded in death by his father Joseph Samuel Cusimano, guardians Eddie and Bernice Head and grandparents Mike and Christine Cusimano.
Pallbearers are Robert Cusimano, Richard Hatch, Brandon Evans, Derick Hill, Andrew Hill, and Elliot Norman. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Hill, John Norman and Tim Thacker.
